Pictures, videos, great reports... you name it. As long as you found it valuable, so will others. What's more, is that in building a natural rapport with your readership, you will never have to hard sell them on anything. You'll be able to simply recommend great for-pay offerings, and your readership will gladly go with your recommendations because they know you are a person who stands and delivers on everything you put out. Tip #3: Give 'til it hurts. Originally coined by Robert G. Allen, in his best seller Multiple Streams of Internet Income, "Give 'til it hurts" is the perfect axiom to Tip #2. When seeking out various work at home business opportunities, it is all to easy to fall into the deadly trap of trying to please the masses. Awhile back ago, Diane wrote an article called "Reduce Your Customer Base... To Boost Your Income". This same principle applies when seeking to freely add value to a specific demographic. The more broad you attempt to be, the more fickle your readership will be, and ultimately the less successful you'll be. It is far better to be a master of one niche, than a "jack of all trades". If pet care is the niche that you are highly passionate about, then focus in on your all-time favorite pet, such as dogs; and proceed to cater to dog lovers. If IM is the niche that your passionate about (yes, IM is a niche), then pick a specialty to become an expert on, such as viral marketing; and deliver freely shared value focused on that element of IM. Is that to say that if you were to discover a great zero-cost resource outside of your sub-niche specialty, that you should pass it by? No, however those should be the exception to the rule; stashed in an "off-topic" category on your blog, website, etc. Tip #5: Stack your functions. In permaculture, there are what's referred to as "plant guilds". A plant guild is typically three or more plants that mutually benefit one another (such as the Native American three sisters - corn, beans, and squash grown together). Every action that you perform in growing your home-based business should include at least one, and preferably two or more ways to later leverage off of your efforts. For instance, as you are researching out cool resources for your dedicated-niche value-adding blog, be sure to save every link of every resource that you discover. Later on, as you accumulate several dozen links, these can then be compiled into a highly-focused viral "link list" PDF, which can then be further developed into a special report, how-to vid's, or a perhaps even a multimedia presentation. The lesson here is that by tapping into the cyclical rhythms of your niche specialty, an information guild can enjoy enormous sources of web traffic. I am the first to admit that, for the first few years, I was obsessed with making everything I set out to accomplish "perfect". While first impressions are important, the problem with the perfectionist mindthink, is that it will quickly zap you of your creative juices (and fill you with an overwhelming feeling of despair); due to the "meticulous details" work involved. Take, for instance, a brand new website or blog that you're setting about to create. If you become obsessed in the details, it wastes your time and energy on what would be better sent simply getting your site up, running and functional. Once that is the case, you can always continue to make improvements on the fly. Remember, if you are dynamically growing your home based business, then today is the worst your website or blog will ever be. Tip #8: Align your efforts with a strong Joint Venture (JV) Partner from the word go. Much has already been written on the subject of JV's and is outside the scope of this tip. What is important to understand, however, is that "no man is an island". Without a strong JV Partner standing behind you, your chances of succeeding in making money online are massively diminished. If you have not done so already, I highly encourage you to read up on everything that you can get your hands on, pertinent to JV's, and focus on landing one good Partner who perfectly aligns with your ultimate passion niche. Then figure out how you can best serve them in lightening up their workload. The dividends go far beyond money, and it will be one of - if not THE - most important relationships that you build online. Tip #9: No such thing as a "free lunch". Quoting the words of Marc Goldman: "(Home-based) businesses cost money". Simply stated, what you are not willing to invest in money will severely cost you in time. Take, for instance, web traffic. While there are thousands of ways to generate zero-cost web traffic, I have yet to find ONE that is time efficient. The IM Big Dogs don't screw around with traffic exchanges, and the like... They simply buy traffic when needed. And whether you purchase your traffic, or attempt to generate it with zero out-of-pocket expenses, be absolutely certain that you have some type of traffic funnel/recycling strategy in place. For some that may be a squeeze page. For others, an RSS feed, or "share this" button, and for others it might be one or more highly valuable viral PDF's in place. Above all, avoid wasting your hard-earned traffic on a web endeavor that does not have one or more of these in place, working for you... Which leads straight into Tip #10: Tip #10: Until you have your own subscriber base of at least several thousands of highly-responsive, loyal readers... avoid affiliate marketing altogether. Many of the Big Name IM'ers work hard at programming you into believing that affiliate marketing is oh so profitable. For them - yep. Not so for you my friend, when you count the cost of what it takes you to drive enough focused, receptive traffic to actually generate any appreciable number of sales. You see, their projection of affiliate marketing is entirely skewed (read one-sided). I have yet to see a single affiliate marketing pusher bluntly state, in no uncertain detail, any of the following:  You are building their leads
database up, not yours. You are building their name/brand
awareness and recognition, not yours. You are improving their Alexa Rank
and Google PageRank (PR), not yours. You are ultimately allowing them to
live the good life, while you miserably suffer.Which is why Google adsense-type programs are an equally bad waste of your time, and resources. Why wouldn't you build your own list with that traffic, then blatantly send it into textual ad infestation/oblivion (if you absolutely must)... instead of merely crapping it down the internet toilet and making someone else wealthy?! Once you have built up your own subscriber base of at least several thousands of loyal subscribers, then yes - you too can enjoy the rewards of affiliate marketing reserved for those with large lists. Until then, focus on value-adding and trust-building, creating excellent products of your own, and attracting a righteous JV partner.
